The New York State Education Department approved the District’s Annual Professional Performance Reviews (APPR) plan on October 3, 2012. Currently, Depew is one of only seven districts in Erie County to have its plan for implementing the Annual Professional Performance Review approved by the State.
Assistant Superintendent of Schools Susan Frey explained that “countless hours” went in to developing the plan and thanks the Depew Teachers’ Organization and the Depew Administrators’ Association for their leadership and cooperation in devising the plan.
Now comes the work of implementing the complex plan. We repeatedly tell our faculty “we are all in this together.”
The district submitted its plan for state approval in mid July. Districts across New York were expected to implement APPR for the 2012-13 school year.

Response to Intervention (RtI)
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-tiered framework designed to maximize achievement for all students. The RtI plan, approved by the Depew Board of Education on Sept. 20, 2011, was written by the District's Response to Intervention Team which is comprised of teachers, counselors, pyschologists, and administrators.
