Did you know the acronym “SLP” stands for Speech-Language Pathologist? SLPs may work in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. They treat a variety of communication disorders, including language, articulation, auditory processing, phonological awareness, voice, and stuttering, just to name a few!

The Depew Speech and Language Department shared this and other fun facts to celebrate “May is Better Hearing and Speech Month.” Students at Cayuga Heights participated in daily morning announcements, D.E.A.L. (Drop Everything And Lead) students at Depew Middle made informational posters to display throughout the school, and DHS students and staff heard interesting messages about speech, language, and hearing via Wildcat TV.  These opportunities created awareness throughout our schools about communication disorders and the impact on learning and academic performance.
