Words were all abuzz this year at the fourth-grade spelling bee at Cayuga Heights Elementary. Three students from each fourth-grade class were chosen to participate in the annual event. The students had a list of words to study and then took the stage at the high school auditorium to show off their spelling artistry to family members, teachers and fellow students. The elimination round, with the winning word “annoying”, pitted two of Corrie Schebell’s students against each other. Matthew Thorne was named the runner-up and Jayson Tanney, the 2017 Spelling Bee champion. Congratulations to all of the spelling bee contestants.
