The finalists for the 2019 Freedom In America Essay & Poster Contest have been selected, and Depew Middle School is proud to announce the five essay finalists.
They are eighth graders Madeline Doctor, Jessica Palmisano and Kiera Szuba, and seventh graders Krystal Wainwright and Sasa Nguyen. They will present their essays at the 47th annual Freedom in America Essay and Poster Contest Assembly on Friday, April 12, 2019.
From the dozens of essays submitted, these five aspiring writers, selected from a field of twenty essays, showed their knowledge and insight on the topic Freedom in America.
The finalists in the poster portion of the contest are seventh graders Luisa Pyc, Stacee Bryan, Madison Wascak, Riley Whitehead, and Krystal Wainwright. They, like the essay finalists, used their love of country to create their masterpieces.
Judges for the contest include district administration, Board of Education members, local dignitaries and elected officials. The essay and poster programs are coordinated by middle school teachers Mr. Sal Carlino and Mr. Joe Pagano, respectively. The morning will begin with a reception for the judges and families of the poster and essay finalists, followed by the assembly in the Depew High School auditorium at 8:30 a.m.
