Mrs. Schebells fourth grade class was committed to staying physically active throughout the month of October during the NFL Play 60 Challenge. Their classroom total of 52,852 activity minutes in just 28 days put them atop the Cayuga Heights leaderboard in the school wide health initiative. Their hard work paid off as they were awarded a visit from Buffalo Bills wide receiver Deonte Thompson!
On December 18th, Deonte, along with representatives from the Buffalo Bills, Independent Health and the American Heart Association visited Mr. Oldins physical education class. 26 students from Mrs. Schebell/Mrs. Schaff’s classes participated in a fun and energizing football lesson. Deonte took part in the throwing/catching and football relay activities, right along with the Cayuga students. The students were able to show off their football and teamwork skills to the Bills receiver and to the rest of the Play 60 staff.
The fun didn’t stop after P.E. class as Deonte visited Mrs. Schebells classroom for autographs and a discussion regarding the importance of staying physically active and making healthy food choices. Each student received a Bills t-shirt and a gift bag full of Play 60 items. This was such an exciting opportunity for the students and the perfect reward for their commitment to living a healthy lifestyle.
