Planting Healthy Foods in Cayuga Height's Healthy Garden

Sunny skies were warming up the garden area at Cayuga Heights Elementary on Wednesday, May 31 as students from all grades planted vegetables in the school's garden.

The Healthy Garden is funded by Wegman's and sponsored by the American Heart Association. For several years the garden has provided an outdoor teaching area for students to learn about plants, the growing process and most importantly, the health benefits of eating vegetables. During the summer, families volunteer to tend the garden.

Helping the students plant the tomatoes, rhubarb, peppers, squash and other veggies was Jesse Ladoue, community relations director for the American Heart Association.
