Thank you to children’s author and writing teacher Amy Ludwig VanDerwater, who held grade-level presentations at Cayuga Heights. Mrs. Bulas worked with students reading her books and then completing various projects, which were on display for the event.
After a welcoming staff breakfast, Amy crafted motivational and engaging presentations for each grade level. Primary grades combined science knowledge of birds with puppets featured in her book Every Day Birds. Intermediate students learned about her writing process and steps in becoming a published author.
They saw firsthand how easy it was to write a poem simply by inserting rhyming words to familiar tunes. She shared her love of writing and encouraged Cayuga kids to pursue what they love in making their dreams come true.
