Dear Depew Families,

We have been made aware of a social media post containing a general threat of violence made by a student associated with our schools. Any type of threat, even one that does not specifically name the District or its schools, is taken seriously. The District immediately notified law enforcement and is working closely with them to address the situation.

At this time, law enforcement has advised the District that there is no credible threat to our school community. Law enforcement continues to investigate to ensure that status remains. Nonetheless, you may notice an increased police presence on and around campus as a proactive and cautious measure.

In the days ahead, your child may feel confused or have questions about this situation. It is important to listen to your child and discuss their concerns. Please feel free to reach out to our counselors in each of the schools for support: Counseling Center | Depew Union Free School District.

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. If your child becomes aware of a concerning post or message, please encourage them to report it immediately to a trusted adult or directly to school administration. We encourage families to remind students not to share or repost unverified information on social media, as it can cause unnecessary fear and disrupt learning.

The District is aware of the physical altercation that occurred between students at the High School on October 27, 2025. We are addressing this matter in accordance with District policy and state regulations, and are working with local law enforcement. The safety and well-being of our students is the District's highest priority. This type of conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our schools. Matters pertaining to individual students are confidential and cannot be discussed pursuant to federal privacy law. Rest assured, the District is also reviewing safety protocols to maintain a secure learning environment for all. We remain committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive school community.
