Depew Middle School

Thanks to a grant, and the efforts of Mr. D’Amato, students in Mr. Carlino’s 7th grade Social Studies classes were able to immerse themselves in a Civil War Battle. The grant provided Mr. Carlino with a class set of Virtual Reality goggles to experience American History in a new and unique way. Using their cellphones, students watched a video from history 360 that gave them a glimpse of what fighting was like during the Civil War. Students saw how soldiers prepared for battle, the chaos of a battle, and the consequences of war. While the video was a re-enactment, it was very realistic and allowed the students to see events as they
