BPO Concert

Members of the Depew Middle School 6th Grade Band and Chorus recently traveled to Kleinhans Music Hall for a special youth concert performed by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO). The exciting field trip gave students the opportunity to experience a live orchestral performance in one of Western New York’s most iconic music venues.

Through a variety of engaging musical selections, the concert explored important themes such as respect, personal responsibility, cooperation, and community. The BPO demonstrated how its 73 individual musicians, each with a unique part and voice, work together to create one unified and beautiful sound. Students saw firsthand how teamwork and collaboration are essential not only in music, but in everyday life.

The program also featured selections from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, a musical renowned for its powerful message about the consequences of intolerance and the importance of understanding. The performance was both entertaining and thought-provoking, leaving students inspired by the music and the meaningful lessons it conveyed.

It was a memorable day of learning and music-making for Depew’s young musicians!
