The community is invited to support local families in need by participating in the 2nd Annual Audrey Hamernik Memorial Lancaster/Depew Community Food Drive on Saturday, Sept. 19. The event will collect nonperishable food items to benefit local food pantries serving residents throughout the Lancaster and Depew communities.
Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at three participating Tops Friendly Markets locations:
Tops #220, 4777 Transit Road, Depew, benefiting Trinity Food Pantry
Tops #237, 6363 Transit Road, Depew, benefiting St. Martha's Food Pantry
Tops #214, 5175 Broadway, Depew, benefiting Tri-Community Food Pantry
Community members can also drop off donations during Depew Fall Fest and Lancaster Fall Fest, which are taking place the same day. Additional collection sites are available through Sept. 19 at Do It Right Sports & Fitness, 11 W. Main St., and SEFAR, 111 Calumet St.
The food drive is supported by numerous local organizations, including Depew Schools, Lancaster Schools, area Boy Scout troops, volunteer fire departments and community partners.
Organizers encourage residents to come together once again to honor Audrey Hamernik's memory while helping stock local food pantries and ensuring families have access to essential food items throughout the year.
